Whale’s Tale Recognized Among Best American Beers in 2022
Denver, CO — After more than 25 years since it was first brewed on Nantucket, Cisco Brewers’ Whale’s Tale Pale Ale is still proving itself worthy of being recognized as one of the elite craft beers in the United States.
At this year’s 2022 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Whale’s Tale earned a bronze medal in the Extra Special Bitters (ESB) category, beating out 63 other entrants in the category from across the country, and finishing third to just Bitter Soul (Mad Pecker Brewing Co., San Antonio, TX) and Happy Amber (MadTree Brewing Co., Cincinnatti, OH), which won silver and gold medals, respectively.
The bronze medal comes as a welcome pat on the back for the pale ale, which was first brewed in the mid-1990’s, and has earned ‘quintessential’ status among New England’s craft beer fanatics. Whale’s Tale is brewed with Maris Otter malt and uses a variety of hops including East Kent Goldings, which harken back to its English-style origin, and provide a rich and complex flavor profile for drinkers to enjoy.
Winning a medal at the GABF helps uphold legendary status for Whale’s Tale, as the competition is the premier beer competition in America. More than 9,900 beers were submitted to GABF in 2022, coming from more 2,154 breweries. Only 300 medals were awarded in the contest, this year - with Whale’s Tale being awarded one of those prestigious medals.
Whale’s Tale is currently being brewed in Portsmouth, NH at the Cisco Brewers Portsmouth / Brewers Collective brewing facility.
